Apple airs new iPad ads, Alive and Together Posted: 17 Feb 2013 07:34 PM PST Apple has released new iPad ads showcasing the iPad 4 and iPad mini both. As with previous iPad ads, these focus on apps and the experience of using the iPad. However, the jauntiness has been ratcheted up a notch, and the text with it. Actually, the text has gone rapid-fire. Together starts off with: spark, go, tether, hello, watch, leap, roam, flick and a bunch of other words before finally settling on wild. Then an app mash up starts, another set of words ending on bright, more apps, more words ending in together, yet more apps, and a last set of words ending in iPad. Everything from built-in apps like FacetTime, to iBooks, to games, to medical apps and more are showcased. Alive follows the same formula, hitting loud, deep, alive, and iPad, and a wide range of apps, games, and other digital content shown in between, mapping to each word. For example, loud includes loud music, the anatomy of the human ear, visually loud fashion, and drums. While keeping the theme of iPad ads to date, the pace feels a little bit faster and catchier, more like the iPod ads. It's a fun, interesting for Apple, and given then new, lower starting price point of the iPad mini, maybe the right one. |
Posted: 17 Feb 2013 02:47 PM PST Wow. I only just ordered the ZAGGKeys Mini 9 three days ago, and it's already here. This is ZAGG's new keyboard case for the iPad mini. I chose the 9 model because it has the standard sized ZAGG keyboard – and I 'm a big fan of their iPad keyboards. I haven't even got the ZAGGKeys Mini out of its packaging yet, but I am very much looking forward to giving it a try very soon. © patrickj for iPad Insight, 2013. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Haze brings colorful, gesture-rich weather to your iPhone Posted: 17 Feb 2013 02:03 PM PST Haze is a new weather app by the folks at Robocat and Taptanium, including developer Willi Wu and designer Michael Flarup. Not surprisingly, it's joyfully executed.
They've had some issues with the date label, but a fix is already on the way. If you're an aficionado of finely crafted, elegantly presented weather apps, check it out now while it's still 66% off on launch sale.

Apple's suppliers: an interactive map Posted: 17 Feb 2013 01:26 PM PST While Apple's relationship with Chinese factories came under fire last year, and their processor and glass manufacturing in the U.S. came up as a result, there's a lot more to their logistics than just those two places. To that point, ChinaFile has put together an interactive map, compiled from Apple's 2013 supplier's list, showing just where all the components and materials from all our iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macs, and related accessories and peripherals come from, and how much.
Check it out, and see where what you're holding in your hands, using on your lap, or looking at on your desk, originated. Source: ChinaFile |

Posted: 17 Feb 2013 09:36 AM PST This weekend's featured iPad wallpaper is Silk. It's another simple, dark abstract image that lets my app icons really stand out. It's also another one found in the iWalls – wallpapers for iPad app, in the 'Simple' category. This iWalls app has a lot of impressive iPad wallpapers in a good range of categories that should offer something for just about anyone's taste. Here's a look at the Silk wallpaper on the iPad mini home screen: I've uploaded this one to our iPad Insight Flickr group. Check the group out for lots of great iPad wallpapers and some incredible iPad art. © patrickj for iPad Insight, 2013. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Analytics Tiles App for iPad Updated – Adds New Tiles & More Posted: 17 Feb 2013 08:36 AM PST Analytics Tiles App, the app that analyzes Google Analytics site stats with style, has been updated this week – to Version 2.2. Here's the change list for this update
Not a massive update by any means, but these are some nice little enhancements for an already excellent app. The new tiles are useful to have and the make default feature should prove very handy. I did a review of Analytics Tiles App a few months ago, and noted that it had become an instant favorite for me. It... This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Kashoo shows off simple online accounting at Macworld|iWorld 2013 Posted: 17 Feb 2013 08:24 AM PST I'd put off procrastinating if I could, never mind far more onerous tasks like expenses, taxes, and... oh, never mind, I'll finish explaining it later. Where was I? Oh, yeah, Kashoo. A simple, online accounting service, Kashoo aims to take "out of sight, out of mind" and make it so quick, so easy, it's faster just to get it done than put it off. At Macworld|iWorld 2013, I spoke with Jim Secord of Kashoo, and he gave us a look at how it works, and how, thanks to their spiffy iPad companion app, it can work for us.
